WITH POSSIBLE CRIMINAL CHARGES LOOMING ALEC BALDWIN ‘PLEASED’ TO ANNOUNCE SETTLEMENT IN CIVIL CASE

A settlement has been reached in the civil case concerning the wrongful death suit of Halyna Hutchins. Alec Baldwin shared on Instagram that he is “pleased” to announce the news of the settlement.

Baldwin shared the news with a screenshot of a news article that also announced the filming of the western is set to resume in January. As part of the settlement, it appears that Hutchins’s husband will now be an executive producer on the film.

Baldwin wrote:

“e are pleased to announce today the settlement of the civil case filed on behalf of the family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained the specific desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son.  We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation.”

This news comes a little over a week after Santa Fe District Attorney asked for funds to prosecute four individuals over the fatal shooting on the set of ‘Rust’.

DA Mary Carmack-Altwies had requested well over half a million to prosecute the case and has so far been granted $317,000 to take the case forward.

According to Fox affiliate, KTVU Carmack-Altwies said, “One of the possible defendants is well-known movie actor Alec Baldwin”. No charges have been brought forth yet so we wait to see what will come of the criminal apsect of this case.

Husband of the late Halyna Hutchins, Matthew Hutchins shared, “We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of ‘Rust,’ including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed.”

He continued, “I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin). All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”

This statement from Hutchins sounds a little different than one given in February of this year. He told NBC, “The idea that the person holding the gun and causing it to discharge is not responsible is absurd to me. Gun safety was not the only problem on that set. There were a number of industry standards that were not practiced and there’s multiple responsible parties.”

It appears that charges may be brought forth soon and we will then know if Baldwin will be among those charged.
