GOP Rep. Mullin Moves To Clear President Trump – House Resolution Would Erase Impeachment From The Records

Former President Donald Trump faced not one, but two motions to impeach during his time in the White House. However, neither attempt succeeded in actually removing him from the Oval Office.

Even so, most Republican leaders say the second impeachment especially was purely politically motivated. As a result, some don’t believe it should stay on the records.

This Includes Oklahoma GOP Member Markwayne Mullin, A Senate Candidate Who Just Introduced A Very Pro-Trump Resolution.

Rep. Mullin wants to expunge the second impeachment of Trump and he’s not alone: 28 other Republicans support the move, including House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and House GOP Conference Vice Chair Mike Johnson (R-LA).

In the resolution, Rep. Mullin slams the “blatant misconduct of Democrats in failing to follow any meaningful legislative process whatsoever.”

This has been a common refrain from the Republican side for a while. Many right-wing leaders and American citizens don’t believe Democrats followed proper procedure in pursuing that second impeachment.

In short, they believe it was only politically motivated, and not based on enough real evidence.

Added Mullin (via Breitbart):

Democrats used their second impeachment resolution to once again weaponize one of the most grave and consequential powers of the House.

This was never about the Constitution; it was rooted in personal politics.

Liberals couldn’t see through their blind rage long enough to follow parliamentary procedure, and instead barreled through Congress in order to have one more bite at the apple with President Trump.

The Senate hopeful called the impeachment push a “witch hunt” conducted by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democrat Party. It isn’t the first time a Republican has used those exact words.

Rep. Mullin’s bill would erase the attempt and ensure that “President Donald J. Trump’s Good Name Is Cleared In The History Books.

This is actually Mullin’s second resolution to clear Trump; he introduced one back in March to expunge the second impeachment. At the time, he called it a big “mistake” made by leftist politicians.

The bill gets support from cosponsors from multiple states, including Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Illinois, Georgia, Pennsylvania, California, and Ohio.

It’s likely that Trump will support the bill as well, as he too referred to the impeachment attempt as a “witch hunt,” and frequently criticized the partisan nature of the move. He also has maintained his innocence from day one.

If this resolution is successful, it would erase that second impeachment and go a long way toward clearing up Trump’s reputation on Capitol Hill.
