Roseanne Barr Is Back, Will Make Triumphant Return In Comedy Special On Fox Nation

Comic legend Roseanne Barr is back and will make her triumphant return on Fox Nation, Fox News’ new streaming service. The service has ordered a new one-hour comedy special from Roseanne which will air next year.

The show is called ‘A Roseanne Comedy Special.’ It will be Roseanne’s first stand-up comedy special in 16 years. Her last special, Blonde and Bitchin’ was on HBO in 2006.

“Roseanne is a comedy icon whose humor connects with the American audience like no other,” Fox Nation president Jason Klarman said in a statement. “Her ability to channel the challenges of everyday people and find the humor in it all has earned her the passionate following of millions of dedicated fans.”

Fox Nation said the new special will “feature Ms. Barr’s signature comedic take on a variety of topics, with no subject off limits.”

According to Variety:

Barr’s last major project was a reboot of her landmark ABC sitcom in 2018. She left the program, which was largely based on her own humor and life, in 2018 after posting an offensive tweet that drew accusations of racism. The show was transformed into “The Conners.”

Originally devised to expand Fox News coverage for die-hards, Fox Nation has in recent months expanded ito lifestyle programming and has enlisted celebrities including Kevin Costner, Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan and Kelsey Grammer for various projects.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

In the 1980s and 1990s Barr was one of Hollywood’s most prolific stand-up comics and actors. Her sitcom Roseanne ran for nine seasons in its initial run, and was revived in 2018, becoming a breakout for ABC.

However, the network canceled the series after she sent a tweet about Obama aide Valerie Jarrett that was widely seen as racist.

ABC brought back the show as The Conners, without Barr.
