Chris Cuomo’s CNN Lawsuit Gets Ugly – He Goes After His Old Partner Don Lemon And Sues For $125 Million

Remember Chris Cuomo? The brother of former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo used to work for CNN. He was a popular fixture on the network (perhaps because he was so close to a powerful politician). But he fell from grace when he was outed for using CNN resources to smear women accusing Andrew Cuomo of harassment.

That scandal also took down CNN president Jeff Zucker and his lieutenant.

But Cuomo’s not finished disgracing his former employer. For some reason, he thinks he was treated unfairly. I guess he has a bad memory, just as much as a bad set of journalistic ethics. Because he is now going after CNN for big bucks.

The gist of the $125 million claim is that Fredo was unlawfully fired. In other words, he claims he did nothing wrong. The lawsuit says his termination was  “based on … false claims that Cuomo violated CNN’s standards and practices assisting his brother, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, during a time of personal and political crisis.”

But that’s not all. Cuomo is going after his old partner and friend, CNN’s Don Lemon.

In a demand for arbitration targeting CNN, former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, who had a history of blowing kisses toward fellow CNN anchor Don Lemon as they repeatedly told each other, “I love you, brother,” turned on Lemon…

[Cuomo said] Lemon had falsely claimed “that Cuomo had been ‘found to break with those journalistic standards and then [was] paid handsomely for it.’”

Chris Cuomo is seeking what remains of his CNN contract, a hefty $125 million. That’s how much this guy was paid for lying on cable TV? He also claims that sum includes “reputational damage.” Yup, because I doubt this guy is going to get another job in media.

The lawsuit alleged Cuomo was wrongfully fired. He claims the network was utterly corrupt, more so than we realize. Cuomo is throwing former colleagues under the bus, including Don Lemon. Cuomo, who once said he “loved” Lemon, is saying the newsman turned on Chris, demanding his termination.

The lawsuit also seems to throw Andrew Cuomo under the bus as well. It claims the network was “in bed” with the former governor and even asked him to hold news conferences at times that would boost its ratings. Chris Cuomo also claims that “CNN has a long-established pattern and practice of selectively enforcing its policies based on cynical calculations of public perception.”

How interesting. We can’t say if Cuomo’s claims are true. But if they are, he’s just as guilty as the network. He worked for them for years, after all. He benefited from these actions. All this will come out in court, of course. But it’s interesting to see this network tear itself apart, after years of lying to Americans.
