They say when a company “goes woke,” it “goes broke.” But the opposite seems to be true for anyone who embraces leftist politics while running for office. You may lose. You may tank the American economy. You may destroy a once-prosperous city or state.

But one thing is for sure, you’ll make out like a bandit. If you don’t believe me, just ask failed candidate Stacey Abrams.

Abrams was a little-known activist who got plenty of attention after she managed to win the Democrat nomination for Georgia governor in 2018. Her campaign was tanked after a photo emerged of her burning the state flag.

Also, she was a left-wing nut who wanted to destroy Georgia’s prosperous economy. But now, just four years later, the woman who once had major financial debts is now a millionaire. How did that happen?

Abrams now says she’s worth $3.17 million, according to state disclosures filed in March. That’s compared with a net worth of $109,000 when she first ran four years ago.

Her rapid ascent into millionaire status corresponds with her rise in national politics. Since her 2018 defeat to Republican Brian Kemp, Abrams has become a leading voting rights activist. She was considered as a potential running mate to President Joe Biden… Along the way, she has earned $6 million, mostly driven by $5 million in payments for books and speeches.

I guess pushing toxic politics pays. Big. Stacey Abrams was in financial trouble back in 2018. But, after losing that election, she was able to lobby her elevated profile in the liberal media to get filthy, stinking rich. Now, apparently, she is worth $3.17 million—after earning millions from books and speeches.

Once upon a time, public service was considered a sacrifice. Men ran for office because they saw it as their duty. They served for a number of terms, then stepped down for the next generation.

Today, all kinds of charlatans enter politics, just for the hefty payday. Those who are elected often leverage their position for wealth, fame, and accolades (see: Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Nancy Pelosi).

Abrams didn’t even win, yet she was able to cash in. She exploited the liberal media to make herself both a victim and champion. She’s even appeared in TV shows, playing—of all things—“President of Earth.” It doesn’t seem like she’s all that committed to her radical socialist views when she’s raking in big bucks.

Then again, socialism is all about exploiting the poor so that a small group on the top gets all the money.
