McCarthy Makes Good on Historic FBI Threat – He Promised to Do It, And It Just Happened

What’s Happening:

House Republicans learned from a whistleblower that the FBI is holding onto a document that could prove the Biden family’s involvement in criminal dealings. According to reports, the FBI has evidence related to what Joe and Hunter Biden were doing. But, as you might expect, the agency refused to investigate.

Republicans subpoenaed the FBI, demanding to see this document. But the entire agency, including Director Wray, took the unprecedented step of stonewalling the U.S. Congress. Speaker McCarthy warned Wray of what might happen if he refused to cooperate. And now, he’s making good on that threat.

From The Post Millennial:

“Oversight Committee will now take steps to hold FBI Director Wray in contempt of Congress,” reads a statement from the Committee…

Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) said that the FBI’s refusal is “obstructionist and unacceptable.”

This is pretty historic. We’ve never seen the FBI simply ignore a subpoena from the House. Subpoenas are legal orders that someone just can’t ignore. Congress can take someone to court to compel them to comply with a subpoena. Yet the FBI is totally rejecting this request from the House of Representatives.

So, Speaker McCarthy is charging the head of the FBI with contempt of Congress. The speaker maintains that the House has jurisdiction over the FBI. Congress is the second branch of the federal government. The FBI, although powerful, is just a single agency within a larger agency, that is under the first branch of the government.

The FBI can’t just dismiss an official request from Congress.

But what happens next? Congress might try to take this to court, to get a judge to require Wray to hand over the document. You better believe that the FBI will send an army of lawyers to prevent that from happening.

Why is the FBI working so hard to keep an unclassified document out of Congress’s hands? Is the agency so willing to protect Biden’s criminal past, that they’d go to such great lengths to undermine Congress?

I guess we have our answer.

Key Takeaways:

  • House Speaker Kevin McCarthy charged FBI Director Wray with contempt of Congress.
  • The FBI refuses to comply with a House subpoena to hand over a document.
  • The document could prove Joe and Hunter Biden’s guilt in a bribery scheme.
