Joe Biden Trolls Trump With Brutal Reminder After Trump Addresses Claims He Forgot Melania’s Name

After former President Donald Trump posted a video explaining why he appeared to forget his wife Melania’s name at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), President Joe Biden posted a video supercut to give Trump a brutal reminder of his other blatant errors.

Trump appeared to refer to his wife as “Mercedes” during the event:

“Well look, my wife, our great first lady, she was great… people love her. [amid applause] Oh look at that, wow. Mercedes, that’s pretty good!”
Trump insiders said Trump was talking to Mercedes Schlapp, his former White House director of strategic communications and wife of CPAC chair Matt Schlapp, who sat next to Trump in the audience.

Trump posted a video explaining why he appeared to forget his wife’s name—saying he sometimes refers to people by different names for “comedic” reasons and when he wants to convey “sarcasm.”

But Biden’s supercut took apart Trump’s response, showcasing times Trump not only forgot his wife’s name but also forgot Biden’s, referring to Biden as his predecessor, Barack Obama.

You can see the supercut below, which Biden captioned:

The supercut even includes a moment when Trump claimed former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley—his 2024 GOP rival—was “in charge of security” at the United States Capitol during the January 6 insurrection, a claim that recently prompted Haley to call for Trump to take a cognitive test.

The supercut also points out instances where Trump made mistakes while speaking to an audience despite asserting that he can go “two hours without a teleprompter not making even a little mistake.” During one section, Trump says, “We are an institute with a powerful death penalty” to an audience at one of his rallies.

Despite these gaffes—and evidence of many more—Trump insisted in his explanatory video that “Very few people, maybe almost nobody, can do what I do.”

Many loved Biden’s snarky response and joined him in criticizing the former President.

Biden addressed concerns about his own age during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week, telling the host that what really matters is “how old your ideas are.”

He also took a shot at Trump, saying:

“You got to take a look at the other guy, he’s about as old as I am, but he can’t remember his wife’s name.”
Biden stressed that Trump is not interested in progress. He said Trump “wants to take us back on Roe v. Wade,” suggesting Trump wants to further erode reproductive freedoms. He added that Trump “wants to take us back on a whole range of issues that are — 50, 60 years, they’ve been solid American positions.”
