It’s no secret that the radical left would love nothing more than to dismantle our criminal justice system. Defunding the police was only one part of their plan allow dangerous people to flood our streets. Leftists in major cities have eliminated bail or penalties for a variety of offenses. The results have been obvious: runaway crime.
In fact, the left has tried to throw out the sentence of one of our country’s most notorious figures. This man, along with his brother, perpetrated a deadly attack in the middle of a major U.S. city. The court ruled he should face the highest penalty possible, but that was thrown out by an activist judge. So, the Supreme Court set things right.
From AP News:
The Supreme Court has reinstated the death sentence for Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
The justices, by a 6-3 vote Friday, agreed with the Biden administration’s arguments that a federal appeals court was wrong to throw out the sentence of death a jury imposed on Tsarnaev for his role in the bombing that killed three people near the finish line of the marathon in 2013.
The conservative wing of the Supreme Court ruled that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will still face the death sentence for his role in the 2013 Boston bombing. A lower court threw out the sentence, claiming the trial judge “improperly excluded evidence” and that the judge did not sufficiently question jurors about their exposure to news coverage.
But arguments were vague and unsatisfactory to the Supreme Court. Justice Thomas wrote that Tsarnaev received a “fair trial before an impartial jury.” Because of this, there was no reason for the courts to throw out his death sentence.
A death sentence is a high punishment. One that Democrats have been fighting for years. They seem more concerned with the well-being of a criminal than seeking justice for their victims. Today, Democrats are more likely to open our jails and let out convicts, than ensure law-abiding citizens are safe. We are not surprised a judge from Boston tried to let Tsarnaev off the hook.
It’s important to note that the entire conservative wing on the bench voted in favor of reinstating this sentence. Every liberal justice voted against it. What would have happened if we had just one or two more liberals on the bench? Would they go as far as to let this man free?
- The Supreme Court voted to reinstate the Boston Marathon bomber’s death sentence.
- A lower court in Boston threw out the sentence, citing a variety of excuses.
- The ruling was 6-3, with every conservative justice voting in favor of the sentence.
