Ever since the unfortunate events of January 6, Democrat leaders have been demanding action against former President Donald Trump.
This includes calls for impeachment as well as other punishment, despite Trump maintaining his innocence. Left-wing politicos still accuse the bombastic POTUS for “inciting a riot” and “insurrection” on that day.
While the world has since turned its focus to other pressing topics – the border crisis, inflation, the pandemic, the Russia/Ukraine war, etc. – the January 6 question still lingers in Washington.
To this point, President Joe Biden has tactfully avoided talking about the issue. However, insider whispers tell us that in fact, Biden might still be quietly going after his former opponent.
The news comes from a leak published by the New York Times over the weekend, and it hints at future actions taken by the Justice Department.

A recent report claims that President Joe Biden has told multiple people that he wants his predecessor Donald Trump to be prosecuted.
The New York Times reported this leak on Saturday, and it comes as Democrats in Washington ramp up pressure on the Justice Department to take action against Trump and his close allies as retaliation for events at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
According to the Times story, U.S. attorney general Merrick Garland has been taking a “deliberate approach” to the matter, which has proven frustrating for Democrat allies and Biden himself.
That’s because it seems they clearly want more action, and they want it to happen more quickly. And it appears they’ve been talking about it behind closed doors for some time.

As recently as last year, Mr. Biden confided to his inner circle that he believed former President Donald J. Trump was a threat to democracy and should be prosecuted.
It’s important to note that the source says Biden “never communicated his frustrations directly” to AG Garland, but “said privately that he wanted Garland to act less like a ponderous judge and more like a prosecutor.”
Even so, despite this leak, it isn’t clear what – exactly – Trump would be prosecuted for.
The former POTUS has avoided various insurrection charges since that time, and Democrats have shifted their focus to the 2020 president election, hoping to get some traction there.
Per the Washington Examiner, The U.S. House Select Committee, which has been investigating the Jan. 6 incident, claims Trump and his colleagues might’ve “broken multiple laws in efforts to overturn the 2020 election.”
The committee further claims they have evidence to prove Trump “engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States, illegally impeding Congress’ counting of electoral votes, and lying to the public.”
However, Trump and his allies say it’s nothing more than a witch hunt, designed to shift focus away from the Biden administration’s troubles.
But if Biden himself is pushing for a Trump prosecution, this could have a momentous effect on the 2024 presidential election. Though Trump hasn’t confirmed he’s running, he’s hinted at it numerous times.
And if he does decide to run, expect Democrats – and possibly Biden – to bring the Jan. 6 issue back into the spotlight.
