Iowa Supreme Court Drops The Gavel On Roe – They Reverse 2018 Decision Give Legislators Ability To Restrict Abortion

Democrats are scrambling to protect one of their most cherished decisions: Roe v. Wade. But in a matter of weeks, the Supreme Court could overturn it—in a groundbreaking and historic ruling.

But we don’t have to wait until the SCOTUS makes this decision to see big pro-life wins. This issue was brought before the Iowa Supreme Court.

And they just sent Democrats reeling.

The Iowa Supreme Court on Friday overruled a 2018 decision that protected abortion under the state constitution.

That decision — coupled with the potential overturn by the U.S. Supreme Court of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that established a nationwide right to abortion — would give Iowa lawmakers significantly more freedom to pass and enforce restrictive abortion laws.

The Iowa Supreme Court threw out a 2018 decision that enforced abortion in the state. This means that lawmakers can pass more laws that restrict the practice.

Should the U.S. Supreme Court soon overturn Roe, it would allow Iowa’s government to ban the practice altogether.

It’s hard not to see the correlation between the state court’s decision and the upcoming SCOTUS ruling.

Seeing as how the U.S. Supreme Court might go, Iowa’s Supreme Court was paving the way for pro-life lawmakers to ban the practice ASAP.

Had this 2018 still been in place when SCOTUS released its ruling, it would have been difficult for Iowa lawmakers to pass new regulations restricting abortion.

Most experts believe that if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, it would allow state lawmakers to decide abortion policy.

States would have the power to restrict or allow the practice, based on the will of residents.
